Biography
Justin was born on March 1, 1994 in London, Ontario and raised in Stratford.
He is the only son of Jeremy Jack Bieber and Pattie Mallette. The parents were never married and the mother became pregnant when she was only eighteen. Pattie raised her son with the help of her mother, Diane and stepfather Bruce.
Although he grew up with his maternal family, Justin has always maintained a close relationship with his father: on the paternal side he has a sister, Jazmyn Kathleen (2008) and a brother, Jaxon Julian (2009), born from his father's first marriage and a sister , Bay (2018), from his second marriage.
During his childhood Justin was interested in hockey, football and chess; he has often kept his musical aspirations to himself. Growing up he learned to play the piano, drums, guitar and trumpet.
In early 2007, at the age of twelve, she sang So Sick by Ne-Yo for a local singing contest in Stratford and came in second place.
Together with his mother, in 2007 he started uploading YouTube videos of himself singing songs by various artists (Usher, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Justin Timberlake and others) and that was how his career began.
The debut
While surfing the Internet, producer Scooter Braun came across a video of Justin from 2007 and was so impressed that he contacted the boy's mother. Initially reluctant to the idea, the latter was convinced and allowed her son to go to Atlanta to record a demo. Justin soon signed a deal with Raymond Braun Media Group (RBMG) for a joint venture between Braun and Usher. The latter then arranged an audition with Antonio LA Reid and in October 2008 signed a recording contract with Island Records for a new joint venture between RBMG and Island Records.
Justin and his mother temporarily moved to Atlanta, where Usher and Braun also lived. The latter became his manager and they began to record the first EP: My World.
Private life
From 2008 to 2009, Justin was in a relationship with Caitlin Beadles.
In December 2010, the Canadian singer started dating singer and actress Selena Gomez. In an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Bieber stated that some of his songs including Sorry, Mark My Words, What Do You Mean?and Friends, concern his relationship with Gomez. After their initial split in November 2012, they were in an on and off relationship, which lasted until March 2018.
From August to December 2016, Justin was in a relationship with model Sofia Richie.
On September 13, 2018, he married American model Hailey Baldwin in New York City. Justin and Hailey held an official ceremony in Bluffton, SC on September 30, 2019.
Health
Justin has struggled with mental health issues, particularly depression and anxiety, at various points in his career.
On January 8, 2020, he announced on his Instagram that he had been diagnosed with Lyme disease. She also revealed that she has infectious mononucleosis, which has been affecting her neurological and general health.
On February 3, 2020, in the YouTube documentary series, Seasons, the singer opened up about his struggles with addiction from frequent use of marijuana, MDMA pills, and hallucinogenic mushrooms in the early stages of his career.
